The Milk Freedom Act of 2014 Could Unshackle Raw Milk Production in U.S.21/05/2014 20:02

A ridiculous law that has prohibited raw dairy products from being bought and sold across state lines since the 1980s is about to be overturned. Currently, a bipartisan effort in Congress is working toward freeing the raw milk supply, and replacing unhealthy, hormone-ridden and homogenized milk with its much more beneficial counterpart.
Americans should be able to choose whether they want to consume raw milk, even though there is controversy over the topic. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took that right away, as they plan to do with other rights to our own health and sovereignty, but with activism and education this may no longer be the case.
Raw milk has considerable health benefits. One woman even used it to naturally treat her lime disease. It is so healthy that William Osler, MD in his eighth edition of Principles and Practices of Medicine speaks of raw milk as being nothing more than white blood. Milk resembles blood closely and is a useful agent for improving and making new and better blood. Blood is the chief agent of metabolism. Milk is recognized in medical literature almost exclusively as a useful food and is admitted to be a complete food – that is until it is adulterated with bovine growth hormones, or gained from cow’s that have eaten GMO feed.
The Interstate Milk Freedom Act of 2014 could restore raw milk’s rightful place in Americana – as a wonderful means of treating numerous ailments. If Congress can agree and pass this legislation, then raw milk customers will finally have an alternative to commercialized, Big Ag milk that is carcinogenic and unhealthy. Raw milk farmers often have to fear fines, raids, and even gunfire just for trying to sell people real milk. Let’s put an end to that.
The bill has been introduced by Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, and has support on both sides of the political spectrum.
Campaign for Liberty says at least 20 lawmakers, including both Republicans and Democrats, have signed on to the legislation.
Representative Massie’s press release on the passage of this legislation reads:
“The ‘Milk Freedom Act of 2014′ would provide relief to local farmers, small producers, and others who have been harassed, fined, and in some cases even prosecuted for the ‘crime’ of distributing unpasteurized milk. This bill would prohibit the federal government from interfering with the interstate traffic of raw milk products.”
The bill, known as H.R. 4308, would allow states to do business with one another without risking prosecution by the federal government. Currently 11 states allow the retail sales of raw milk, while another 26 states recognize some form of legal sale either directly from the farm or through farm shares. Should this bill pass, states would be able to expand sales of raw milk across state lines, and prevent the federal government from interfering with its trade.
Rep. Massie’s press release goes on to state:
“Today, many people are paying more attention to the food they eat, what it contains, and how it is processed. Raw milk, which has been with us for thousands of years, is making a comeback among these discerning consumers. Personal choices as basic as ‘what we feed our families’ should not be limited by the federal government.”
